I play a lot of tennis, all year round and with the colder months incoming, I wanted another base layer to keep me warm. I normally use my Under Armor base layer, but didn’t want to pay another £35 or whatever it was for another. So, the search was on for a cheaper alternative. I’d read a number of reviews and the FDX base layer came out on top. Reading the reviews, the sizing was a little bit off and some recommendations were to go 1 or 2 sizes up. I also looked at the size guide to help me a little bit – which it did. I ended up going for a size large. Now, normally, I’m a size small in most things – I’m 5ft 7, 11.5 st and generally between a 36-38 inch chest and 32-33 inch waist. Going for a large was slightly alien for me, but reading reviews and the size guide, it seemed to be the most accurate for me and I didn’t want anything overly tight. It came, I tried it on and I was happy with the snug fit. Not stupidly tight (who wants that?!) but tight enough to breathe and feel generally comfortable. For £17 odd, I can’t complain too much. The only gripe I have is how it feels in the arm pit area. It just seems to be tight in that area and could do with a little bit more wiggle room. It doesn’t dig in, but it’s enough to be a little bit annoying. Having said that, I will keep wearing it and I will no doubt get used to the arm pit issue. Right, that’s enough about arm pits! I’d still recommend, just be wary of the sizing – their size guide isn’t too bad for guidance.

Struggled to find a base layer at a decent price point for cycling. This fit the bill and is think enough to keep warm in the winter, whilst still wicking sweat away. Great product

It is very nice and warm

Small around neck area otherwise perfect

Be careful with size, I am a 39″ chested male (inflated) and ordered the large,up to 43″ chest I thought – as sizing suggests, however really , I mean REALLY tight in the chest and arms (I don’t do weights so am not muscle bound!). The neck is also quite tight and high up. The positives are this would be really good in cold weather, although not tried as had to send back, bought both the xl jacket and xl cycling trousers (they are also tight, but meant to be for cold weather and fleecy) and the jacket is the same sizing, ie up to 44″ and is an outer garment and no where near as tight as this under garment. Would be ideal for walks etc, not sure long enough for cycling as not particularly long as stated elsewhere. Cannot advise about wicking away sweat etc as is really toasty just standing around in it. Is free postage to receive but you have to pay to send back. Think wisely about the size, suggest definitely go up a size. FDX good though and speedy response regarding returns.
